I have never imagined that SONY will release the second generation of its GM lens and I bought this in May 2021. 70200 GM 2 was released just a few months later and I believe few people will come back for the first generation. Very disappointed and sad to buy this.

Very happy with the lens ability to shoot in poor light and very fast focus for sports and bird photography. I like the internal zooming feature without the lens protruding out.

70-200 is a mandatory focal length that I did not regret buying

I did not hesitate to purchase the 70-200 F2.8 GM after testing out a similar complimentary lens loan from Sony Singapore. I headed down to Marina Bay during the 'Circuit Breaker' period for a pre sunrise shoot. The AF was very fast and I was impressed with the image quality. This lens enables me to capture a black 'Covid Sky' signifying the current Coronavirus pandemic situation.

Sold my Sony 70-300 G lens for this Sony 70-200 GM and was taking great photos ever since. Paired with my A7III, I’m now taking brighter and sharper photos! The bokeh is amazing! This is now my favorite lens. Cons: - Quite heavy and after few hours of shoot my wrist hurts. - I also hoped the lens and hood has color black option since i shoot mostly for events and want to be discreet/hidden as much as possible and i still have to black gaffer tape just to conceal the very white lens.

What else can I say, focusing speed, image quality, build quality. Top notch. On cons is the price and the sound it makes when it is turned on

I just used this lens twice. The second time, I was using it to shoot protraits at [Journey to Greatness] Portrait Photography Workshop. It is not heavy for me and the photographs all turned out very good without tripod.

Bought this a month ago, item is sharp and quick focus, but came with cosmetic defect, paint peeling near the zoom ring circle, because lens is white, the paint peel became obvious, disappointed because I spend $3200 to buy a brand new lens that came with a scar

As i mentioned in another review, if i bought 70-200Gm alone, then this lens is very good, sharp, fast AF and many good features. Because i bought 135GM together, this 70-200GM have to put its head down, bow to 135GM. After all, it is SONY initial GM products, can't be compared with prime lens.

This lens perform well with a7 series camera. Image sharpness ok. But, the quality build of this lens externality and internally are questionable.

having owned several lenses in the past, the performance of this 70-200 is fantastic, It is bright and sharp!, What else can I say. Perhaps some optimisation to reduce weight is all that I could recommend

I bought this lens for portraits. It's very incredible, it can make me feel awesome to use every time, it has so heavy weight but for me not be a barrier to work. may i'm not a professional photographer, i don't care about weight much, I bought a camera, lens for hobbit and traveling only.

I had the sony FE 70-200 f/4 version which limited some of Sony A9 capabilities. Upgrading to this f/2.8 version unlock those limitations, also withness significant image quality improvements, and ability to use lower ISO is a real treat. Its built is first class, a very unique lens owning the focus-ring coupling mechanism, the only one in FE autofocus lens line. The constant-length design, for both zoom and focus, means less moisture and particles pumping in (nor out) and no zoom creep, letting me believe that the lens should be a long life product and the real keeper. A combination of A9 and this lens allows me to shoot 20 frames per second AF-C tracking without making a little noise. The only 2 drawbacks that prevented me to give it 5-star rating are its high price tag (especially price in Thailand is less reasonable) and a less practical collar design (the f/4 version's collar is more practical that reduces more weight when I remove the whole collar system out for handheld shooting). In conclusion, I am very happy using this lens and would like to recommend it rather than the f/4 version, though the huge price difference is, for some people, up to an individual's justification is it really worth it.

Huiyoo.... good quality build, great design with amazing features. And the image it produce is gorgeously sharp. The only downside is harsh price tag.

I bought this lens 4 months ago as my first tele zoom lens for the new A7r III and it blew me away. It costs a lot, but also delivers beautiful results. In terms of build quality it also beats the competitors and I understand it belongs to every pro selection.
